International: Saudi Arabia

No additional mover-specific transport licensing was confirmed beyond the domestic TGA licensing covered on the Saudi Arabia page

Regulated byThis research did not identify a separate transport-operator authorization specific to international road haulage in Saudi Arabia, distinct from the domestic Transport General Authority (TGA) licensing covered on the Saudi Arabia page.

OverviewOverview & Scope

This research did not confirm a distinct mover-side licence or vehicle authorization specific to international road transport in Saudi Arabia, beyond the domestic TGA licensing already covered on the Saudi Arabia page. One verified rule is relevant to cross-border moves: TGA’s goods transport regulations prohibit non-Saudi trucks from carrying out domestic transport within Saudi Arabia. A foreign-registered truck bringing a shipment into the country is not authorized to carry out moves between locations inside Saudi Arabia; that work needs a TGA-licensed operator. Given Saudi Arabia’s land borders with other Gulf states, any separate cross-border authorization is worth a direct follow-up if road-based relocations between Gulf countries are common among ITMs.

RegistrationRegistration & Compliance Essentials

Movers must:

  1. Maintain the domestic TGA licence and vehicle documentation already required where the mover operates its own vehicles in Saudi Arabia, as covered on the Saudi Arabia page.
  2. Where transport within Saudi Arabia is subcontracted, use carriers that hold the licences required for the transport they perform. Non-Saudi trucks may not carry out domestic transport.
