No mover-specific licensing for international transport was confirmed beyond the domestic requirements on the Costa Rica page
Regulated byThis research did not identify a separate vehicle or transport-operator authorization specific to international road haulage in Costa Rica. No MOPT/CTP transport authorization was confirmed for household moving domestically either (see the Costa Rica page).
OverviewOverview & Scope
This research did not confirm a distinct mover-side licence or vehicle authorization specific to international road transport in Costa Rica. The domestic requirements on the Costa Rica page (municipal business licence, Sanitary Operating Permit and, where the mover operates its own vehicles, circulation rights, technical inspection and insurance) continue to apply. If a mover operates its own vehicles across a Costa Rican land border, MOPT/CTP should be asked directly whether any additional vehicle authorization applies. Where the international leg is subcontracted, the carrier’s own licences cover the transport it performs, and the mover should use carriers that hold them.
RegistrationRegistration & Compliance Essentials
Movers must:
- Maintain the domestic requirements covered on the Costa Rica page, including, where the mover operates its own vehicles, current vehicle documentation.
- Where the international leg is subcontracted, use carriers that hold the licences required for the transport they perform.
