Know the Rules for Your Move in Sweden
A haulage licence from the Swedish Transport Agency under EU operator rules, with no statute specific to removals: liability for household goods is set by the moving contract.
Before you rely on this
Sweden licenses the business of carrying goods by road for hire at the company level. The company that operates the trucks needs a haulage licence (yrkestrafiktillstånd) from the Swedish Transport Agency (Transportstyrelsen), granted under the Commercial Transport Act and EU Regulation 1071/2009. Sweden’s general road carriage law expressly excludes removals, and its consumer services law does not cover transport, so a mover’s liability for your belongings depends largely on the terms in your contract. Many movers use a set of standard terms for domestic moves, “Bohag 2010”, agreed between the industry and the Swedish Consumer Agency (Konsumentverket), but those terms apply only if your contract includes them. Always confirm current requirements directly before hiring a mover.
