Know the Rules for Your Move in the Netherlands
Requirements are set nationally, with a dedicated statutory moving-contract framework closer to Germany’s than to France’s.
Before you rely on this
Like Germany and France, the Netherlands does not license movers region by region. The underlying legal framework is national and EU-derived, administered by NIWO (Nationale en Internationale Wegvervoer Organisatie). The Eurovergunning is held by the company operating the vehicles; where a mover subcontracts transport, the carrier holds it. Always confirm current requirements directly before hiring a mover.
What kind of question is it?
KvK (Chamber of Commerce) registration, plus a NIWO Eurovergunning (Community Licence) where the mover operates its own vehicles.
Netherlands →The Netherlands has its own dedicated statutory framework for moving contracts (verhuisovereenkomst, Book 8, Title 13, Section 4 of the Burgerlijk Wetboek), comparable to Germany’s § 451 HGB, not just general consumer law.
Covered within the Netherlands pageA separate layer only outside the EU/EEA: additional NIWO permits for movers operating their own vehicles. Book 8 BW continues to apply by default, because the CMR Convention excludes furniture removal.
