Know the Rules for Your Move in Ireland
Requirements are set nationally, following the same EU-derived operator-licensing framework used across much of Europe, with licences issued by the Department of Transport and compliance overseen by the Road Safety Authority.
Before you rely on this
Ireland does not license movers region by region: the Road Haulage Operator Licence (RHOL) is a single national licence issued through the Road Transport Operator Licensing Unit at the Department of Transport, with compliance overseen by the Road Safety Authority (RSA). The licence is held by the business carrying goods in its own vehicles; where a mover subcontracts the haulage, the haulier performing it holds the licence. Always confirm current requirements directly before hiring a mover.
What kind of question is it?

Ireland →Governed by general consumer law (the Consumer Rights Act 2022) rather than a dedicated moving-contract statute like Germany’s.
Covered within the Ireland pageAn International RHOL for cross-border haulage in the mover’s own vehicles, and the CMR Convention’s exclusion of furniture removal.
