Know the Rules for Your Move in Argentina

A national licence for operating vehicles across provincial lines, with a separate authorization for crossing into neighboring countries and a distinct fleet-size threshold depending on the destination.

Before you rely on this

Argentina licenses goods transport nationally through the Comisión Nacional de Regulación del Transporte (CNRT), but only for interjurisdictional transport, that is, any move crossing a provincial border. Purely intra-provincial transport falls instead under that province’s own transport authority. These licences attach to the company operating the vehicles; where a mover subcontracts the transport, they are held by the carrier performing it. Worth knowing directly: CNRT’s own institutional structure has been the subject of real, recent contestation. A 2025 decree attempted to dissolve and reorganize it, Congress rejected that decree, and further changes have been proposed since. CNRT continues to operate under its current name as of this writing, but given the pace of change, confirm the current regulator’s name and status directly rather than assume permanence. Always confirm current requirements directly before hiring a mover.
