Know the Rules for Your Move in Peru

A national goods transport authorization from the Ministry of Transport and Communications, held by whichever company operates the trucks.

Before you rely on this

Peru licenses the business of carrying goods for hire at the company level. The company that operates the trucks needs an authorization from the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC) to provide public goods transport, and each truck must be enabled under that authorization, pass periodic technical inspection, and carry compulsory accident insurance. Consumer-facing businesses must also keep a complaints book (Libro de Reclamaciones). International road moves into Andean Community or Southern Cone countries need separate international permits from the MTC. Always confirm current requirements directly before hiring a mover.
