Know the Rules for Your Move in Spain

A national transport authorization system, administered regionally, with moving named as its own tax activity category and a national moving-industry trade association.

Before you rely on this

Spain licenses road carriers under the same EU Regulation 1071/2009 framework used across the EU. A mover that operates its own vehicles for hire and reward needs a tarjeta de transporte (transport authorization card), valid nationwide once issued but applied for and administered through the regional territorial office of the Ministerio de Transportes, Movilidad y Agenda Urbana (or, in some autonomous communities with devolved competency, that region’s own transport directorate) corresponding to the company’s fiscal address. Always confirm current requirements directly before hiring a mover.

What kind of question is it?

Business & transport authorization

Moving businesses register under their own tax activity code. A mover that operates its own vehicles also needs a tarjeta de transporte, which requires good repute, financial standing and professional competence.

Industry association
