OverviewOverview & Scope
Beginning July 1, 2021, Nebraska law requires that any individual or business performing intrastate household goods moving must obtain a Household Goods Mover License from the Nebraska Public Service Commission before operating legally.
Federal requirements are separate: a USDOT number attaches to the company operating vehicles that meet federal thresholds, and UCR applies to interstate operations. Where a mover subcontracts transport, the carrier’s own registrations cover the transport it performs.
